Like many ex-servicemen, my grandfather settled in Canley Vale after the Second World War. He had proudly served his country in the Middle East and New Guinea campaigns, and became an early member of the Cabra-Vale Diggers Club. Some of my earliest memories of him involved the rare treat of seeing his six medals, kept wrapped in a silk hankerchief, a souvenir from his time in the Middle East. Read the rest of this entry »
