Not the garden variety of police, but those charged with the responsibility of maintaining an effective legislature by preventing corrosive corrupt praxis. There is an expectation that those at the highest levels of our institutions are able to prosecute their talents to their fullest. Yet that is clearly not the case. The problem is chiefly to do with transparency of process within government. We don’t know what we need to know, and so the boundary Read the rest of this entry »

This is a form of argument so low that the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer rated it last of his 38 ways to win an argument you’ve actually lost. Kerry O’Brien has spent much of his career for the ABC in barracking for the ALP, so it must have hurt him considerably when Rudd crumbled in front of him last week. Read the rest of this entry »

Well, I have some bad news. Nick Lalich MP only cares about big business. At the 11 May 2010 Services Committee Meeting, item number 92 on the Agenda was a report titled ‘Impact of electricity price increases on Council’s budget from 2010 / 2011 to 2012 / 2013′. Read the rest of this entry »

At the 27 April 2010 Council Meeting, I asked for a report, which would show just how much money each Councillor had spent on travelling to conferences across Australia. The report is damning. It showed a total lack of regard by some Councillors for the spending of hard earned ratepayer money. Read the rest of this entry »

It is a tragedy when it happens at a school. Particularly children. It happened a few times while I was growing up at various schools I attended. I recall hearing my brother being awarded an Eagle Scout badge and the speech given by the scoutmaster, recalling a heroic act of a fit man throwing himself in front Read the rest of this entry »

The ETS was a dog of a scheme with no benefits for Australia and Australians. But Rudd held on tight to it for one reason, and when that reason went, he dropped it. Some will quibble with the assertion that the ETS has been dropped, when it has been delayed for implementation to 2012. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s be very clear about the fact that I strongly support Council’s TownSafe program and the role CCTV cameras play in combating crime. I only referred this item to Council as I thought this decision was important enough to be brought to the attention of all Councillors. Read the rest of this entry »

Can Councillors please receive a report, which details the number of conferences attended by each Councillor from the beginning of October 2008 to the end of April 2010? Read the rest of this entry »

My question without notice is to the General Manager, in the public works report of the Services Committee, there was a reference to a letter being written to the Minister for Planning, requesting he re-consider his department’s decision to not reclassify part of Adams Reserve. Both my grandfathers fought at Gallipolli .. for different armies. One fought for the brits, while the other claimed to have, but as he had lost an eye during the Great War, his account was never well examined. He despised Churchill in a way that seems unfair, much as many ARL bosses are Read the rest of this entry »
